Apple is now facing tough competition in the smartphone market from Android as it is the highest selling smart phones. Android is comes in many models such as Droid Incredible, HTC Evo 4G and Samsung Epic. Price rate is also where Apple is facing a tough competition from Virgin Mobile Samsung Intercept which offers start from range of $25 per month while verizon can not offer for a low price.

According to John Hodulik, an analyst at UBS AG in New York, the user defections from AT&T to Verizon would nearly be around 2.3 million in 2011, though industry analysts expect the defections to be between 1 million and 6 million. In fact, going by the indications, even if AT&T loses about two times the customers expected by Hodulik, it will not spell doom for the carrier.

How many will flee AT&T?

Bloomberg has been reporting that Apple will “probably” introduce a Verizon iPhone after next week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. But what’s interesting about the latest articles is that analysts are already predicting the number of AT&T customers who will defect to Verizon for its new iPhone.

More evidence

The second bit of proof we have of the Verizon iPhone’s impending launch was revealed thanks to a simple domain lookup. While the domains “iphoneonsprint.com,” “iphoneontmobile.com,” and “iphoneonatt.com” are all owned by a person named Jim Benton, a company by the name of Verizon Trademark Services LLC just snatched the domains “iphoneonverizon.com” and “iphoneforverizon.com.” The same company just so happens to own “verizon.com,” too.
